I was just reading M. Scott Peck and what he says about the counterpart to emotions- feelings. He says that feelings are the source of one's energy which make our accomplishments possible but that a proper management of them is necessary, which requires "treating our feelings with respect, nurturing them with good food, shelter and medical care, listening and responding to their voices, encouraging them, inquiring as to their health, yet also organizing them, limiting them, deciding clearly between them, redirecting them and teaching them, all the while leaving no doubt as to who is the boss." ...Couldn't have said it better myself.
